Tyranids

The thread posed by Hive Fleet Leviathan not only to the Imperium as a whole, but the very core of it's region, , the Segmentum Solar, can't be rated high enough. As of yet, there's no apparent rhyme or reason to the movement of the various tendrils of the Hive Fleet. Only one thing is certain: if a planet sports a Genestealer cult, Leviathan is sure to come.

The Genestealers have been active for more than 250 years in the Audacia Sector. It started with the appearance of the Space Hulk Queen of Diamonds in 734.M41 in the Urstov system. Urstov III's planetary governor Helikal Mardok ordered his Planetary Defense Force to ransack the Space Hulk – only nine of the five hundred soldiers who entered the Queen of Diamonds made it out alive. Although it seemed like they returned nearly empty-handed, they brought a special gift back with them: the Genestealer virus. Stowed away in their transport ship was also the Genestealer who'd become the Patriarch of the cult on Urstov. As that Patriarch became a dark legend for any non-cult members, he was called „the Eater of Worlds“. Folklore has it that this beast rumored to roam both the Underhives and the irridated wasteland between the hive cities is slowly but steadily consuming everything and everyone, until, in the distant future, it has eaten the whole universe.

Over the next 250 years, the Genestealer cult on Urstov III thrived, slowly infiltrating all echelons of the PDF and, later, the planetary government. While nothing is known for certain, Urstov III has garnered quite a reputation in the sector – „going to Urstov“ has become a figure of speech on other planets, meaning death or worse.

Recently the cult expanded to other planets in the Audacia Sector, too. As the shadow of Hive Fleet Leviathan falls over the Sector, the Genestealer cults make ready to finally show their hand.

Infamous Tyranid Creatures

All names bestowed upon the Tyranids are not of their own choosing, naturally, but rather how the local populace refers to them. Most Imperial forces have adoped these names.
